Columbus OH: Republican U.S. Senate candidate Matt Dolan today announced the support of former Ohio Attorney General and State Auditor Betty Montgomery. Montgomery was Ohio’s first woman Attorney General and first woman Auditor of State. She is presently an Ohio Republican Party State Central Committee Member.
“I have taken the time to watch this race closely and it’s clear that Matt Dolan’s experience, character set and strict adherence to the Constitution and rule of law set him apart from the field. Betty Montgomery will join Matt on the campaign trail this week at law enforcement roundtable discussions in Lima and Columbus. She joins notable women from throughout Ohio in supporting Dolan’s candidacy, including former Ohio House Speaker and RNC Committeewoman Jo Ann Davidson, Kettering Mayor Peggy Lehner, State Rep Gayle Manning, Mount Vernon Councilwoman Amber Keener, Huber Heights Councilwoman Kate Baker, and others.
Background on Attorney General Betty Montgomery
Former Ohio Attorney General Betty Montgomery is Of Counsel to Mac Murray & Shuster, focusing her practice on helping clients understand and meet their regulatory compliance obligations and representing them before state regulators across the country. Betty previously served for twenty-six years in the following elected positions: Ohio Auditor of State (2003-07); Ohio Attorney General (1995-03); State Senator for District 2 (1989-95); and Wood County Prosecuting Attorney (1981-89), during which she was the only woman prosecuting attorney in the state. Betty’s career in public service includes a number of highlights, including drafting Ohio’s first Living Will Law and first Brownfields Legislation. As Attorney General, Betty dramatically increased state support for local law enforcement and rebuilt all of Ohio’s crime labs, introducing DNA testing and 21st century technology to Ohio. As Attorney General, she received national recognition for excellence in service and advocacy in many areas including legal work before the U.S. Supreme Court. In addition to her legal and consulting work, Betty is President of the State Medical Board of Ohio and Chair of The Jo Ann Davidson Ohio Leadership Institute, which trains women in business and civic leadership to assume more prominent roles in government and in the Republican Party or in their community. She also serves on the JobsOhio Beverage System Board and Capitol Square Foundation and is a former Chair of Bowling Green State University’s Board of Trustees.
