Combating the Opioid Epidemic

The scourge of drug addiction continues to inflict harm, heartbreak and pain for countless communities that have been hit hard by an influx of heroin and deadly synthetic drugs like fentanyl from as far away as China. Too many families have been torn apart by opioid abuse and overdoses, and encounter hardships when navigating our healthcare system to help find treatment for their loved ones. Our law enforcement officers and first responders have bravely met this crisis head-on, and that’s why I will fight for increased federal support to bolster on-the-ground recovery and treatment programs to wage and win this battle. As your U.S. Senator I’ll continue to advocate for policies aimed at preventing drug traffickers from passing through our southern border, restricting the trafficking of these deadly drugs into the U.S.
